About the Course:

​

This 3 Day Pre Hospital Emergency Care Council First Aid Training Course delivers the HSA-recognised standard of First Aid to those who are interested in becoming a First Aider. It revises the knowledge, practical skills & understanding required to provide appropriate first-aid treatment in the workplace in compliance with the requirements of the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007; Part 7, Chapter 2: First Aid Training. 

 

Learning outcomes:

​

On completion of this course, learners will be able to:

​

  • Recognise and Assess the causes and effects of sudden illness and/or injury in a pre-hospital environment and call for emergency medical service

  • React to such pre-hospital emergencies

  • Respond in a safe, effective, and appropriate manner to such emergencies utilising the First Aid Response skill set.

  • Record and Report actions and interventions taken while responding to and managing such incidents and during handover to emergency medical services.

 

 Course Programme:

 

  • Assess the Patient

  • Incident procedure

  • Cardiac First Response – (CPR & AED, Choking & Stroke)

  • Common medical emergencies Asthma, Diabetes, Seizures, Poisoning & Fainting)

  • Injury management and shock

  • Care of the unconscious patient

  • Burns and electrical injury care

  • Hypothermia and hyperthermia

  • Information management

  • Communications

 

Additional Information:

 

  • Maximum of 6 learners

  • Course duration: 3 Days the day could be to suit the learner 

  • Successful course participants will receive a First Aid Responder certificate from the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council and the certificate will expire after 2 years.
